Time

The topic of time is intangible.
By designing a watch, I am making time tangible.

The watch illustrates a collision between reality and fantasy.
The watch dial makes you interpret that you have longer time
(26 hours) each day. However, the hands tell you the time in reality.

Traditionally the idea of luxury focuses on the ownership of things, however, nowadays, the meaning of luxury has shifted. It relates to the experience of comfort. This is the reason why the subject of luxury is highly subjective depending on individual.

Money, power, freedom and time are the greatest constituents of life. In modern society, money is often equated with power. For all the time, we devote to talking about, worrying about, and dealing with money, we think it was the most important thing in the world. Is money really as valuable as our obsession levels lead us to believe? There are some things money can't buy.

"Time is of significant social importance having economic value (time is money) as well as personal value, due to awareness of the limited time each day and in human life spans."

Human have always wish to have the power to control time. In a way, having power to control time is one of the ultimate luxuries of life.

In 'Let Them Eat Cake', Slyvia Bass discussed about the 'Black Card' or the 'Centurion Card' which is the most exclusive credit card you can obtain from American Express. She suggested, "Time is more value than money with this particular audience. Saving time is considered a luxury.."

This was one of the first inspirations that drew me towards the idea of buying time. To be able to buy time, seems to be the luxury of life. Initially, the watch was only aimed at people who has the power to spend. In reality, these people can indirectly buy time through medical care, seeking advice and help from specialist experts.

Wealthy people like to complain about having no time. People with higher income often work more hours per week, thus are more time stress. They have greater feelings of being rushed. Among these people, time is more valued than money. Having good time management skills is very crucial and lost time is an opportunity cost for them.
